Prepare to be ‘Amazed’ by fair headliner, Lonestar
By Angel Carpenter
Blue Mountain Eagle
Fairgrounds manager Mindy
Winegar announced the country mu-
sic band Lonestar will be this year’s
Grant County Fair headline enter-
tainment, playing Friday, Aug. 17, in
John Day.
She said, with the great entertain-
ment lined up, “The fair is going to
be amazing.”
Lonestar has been cranking out
country music hits for more than 20
years — a few of their many familiar
tunes include “Amazed,” “Already
There,” “My Front Porch Looking
In” and “Mr. Mom.”
“Amazed” is the band’s biggest
hit, lasting eight weeks at the top
of the Billboard country chart, with
over 1,650,000 digital copies sold.
The song also reached the Bill-
board Hot 100, one of only two coun-
try songs in the 2000s decade to do so.
There are plenty more hits from
the band’s 10 albums, including nine
other No. 1 singles, which should

have a wide appeal for those attend-
ing the fair.
The Lonestar musicians include
Richie McDonald, lead vocals, pia-
no; Michael Britt, lead guitar, back-
ing vocals; Keech Rainwater, drums;
and Dean Sams, keyboards, acoustic
guitar, backing vocals.
Nate Botsford, a Portland-based
singer/songwriter, will open for Lon-
estar and will also perform after the
concert.
Botsford’s hybrid style is a fresh
take on musical influences, which
include Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan
and Van Morrison, as well as two
piano-playing grandfathers. He
has described his work as “blue-
grass-country-rock with a little bit
of pop in there.”
Concert gates open at 6 p.m., and
Botsford opens at 7 p.m.
VIP tickets are $65 with seating
close to the band and no-host bars
with alcoholic and nonalcoholic
drinks. General admission is $30
with seating (or standing) in the
grandstands. Admission for people
12 and under is $15 with seating (or
standing) in the grandstands.
All tickets also provide free ad-
mission to the Grant County Fair that
day. The 109th Grant County Fair is
scheduled for Wednesday through
Saturday, Aug. 15-18.

grounds or purchase online at http://
