Sports Blue Mountain Eagle A13 Wednesday, March 28, 2018 BOYS Continued from Page A10 Prospector pitcher Damion Young relieved Robertson in the sixth. He had a strikeout in the sixth and two strike- outs in the seventh, but the Trojans were able to score one more run in each of the innings for the 3-point win. Homedale pitcher Jake Collett proved tough, tak- ing the mound for six in- nings, with Wyatt Wolfe relieving in the seventh. Grant Union head coach Dusty Williams said his athletes played well against a solid team. “We had some good, hard hits — just right at them,” he said. “It was just one of those games where you play pretty good, but they were a little bit better than we were.” Williams said Zack Deiter performed well at center field. “Warner Robertson threw really well for us,” Williams said, adding Young also performed well. Both are sopho- mores. “It’s only the second time he’s been on the mound in a game,” Wil- liams said of Young. Reimers said Homedale, which im- proved to 7-1 with the win, is a good team with a lot of pitchers. “They can throw strikes,” he said. “We just had some mistakes that cost us — tough loss, but I think we should finish off this tournament with two W’s.” Grant Union did finish the tournament with two wins, 3-2 over Lost Riv- er Friday and 15-6 over Harrisburg Saturday. The team is scheduled to face Oakland at 11 a.m. and Monroe at 2 p.m. Sat- urday, March 31, in John Day for the Les Schwab Invitational.
