B10 Sports Blue Mountain Eagle Wednesday, September 6, 2017 PANTHERS SPORTS SCHEDULE Continued from Page B1 In the fourth, Mitchell/ Spray increased their lead with a couple more touch- downs, adding conversion points on both. With less than seven min- utes left in the game, Panther Jojari Field grabbed the kick- off from midfield, taking it to the 20-yard line. Prairie City moved the ball to the 10 for a first down, and came within two yards of a touchdown. The Panthers came close again in the final three min- utes of the game when Field intercepted the Rattlers’ ball, running it past the goal line; however, the play was called back on offsetting penalties. Prairie City kept posses- sion and came within five yards of a touchdown before being stopped. Panther head coach Nate Barber said his team had good tackling, and Jayden Winegar performed well, taking over when quarterback Declan Zweygardt came out with an injured shin. He was also impressed with Field’s speed. Barber said his team played a better first half, but became tired in the second. Moving forward, he said, the team will work on condi- tioning and moving players in the right position. “We didn’t get to use our speed,” he said. “I think if we can just get that extra second and that speed on the edge, that’ll open up the game.” He added, “I think the kids also saw for themselves what they need to improve on.” Prairie City will host Pine Eagle at 7 p.m. Friday.
