We ran offenses great. Our
defenses were great. We threw
three or four different defenses.
We did a great job with that.”
On their win in Elgin,
Wright said his team played
well after a rough start.
“Having bus legs and sitting
in a gym for fi ve hours was
kind of tough,” he said, “but we
did pretty well going into the
second quarter. Then we just hit

Lady Tigers
net two wins
The Monument/Dayville
Lady Tigers blew out oppo-
nents twice last week.
They had a 38-9 win over
Burnt River in Unity on Tues-
day, Jan. 10, then beat the
Harper Hornets 54-18 at the
Dayville court on Friday.
“On both days, the girls
did a great job at being ag-
gressive on offense and not
having turnovers this week,”
said Tiger head coach Tay-
lor Schmadeka. “We hope to
carry that over to the games
this weekend against Jordan
Valley and Adrian, which are
both home games, and expect
to get two home wins against
two very good and high-
ranked teams.”

Wapiti League, where every
win is crucial for the Grant
Union Prospector boys as
they try to climb higher in the
league standings.
Grant Union claimed a
49-32 victory on Friday over
Elgin at the Huskies’ court,
then suffered a painful 40-29
defeat Saturday to the Union
Bobcats at the Prospector
court.
The Bobcats leaped ahead
from the start, and Grant
Union’s only lead, 6-4 in the
fi rst quarter, was fl eeting.
At the half, Union led 22-
14.
By the fourth quarter, the
heated game was in battle
mode, as Grant Union worked
to whittle away at Union’s
12-point lead from the third
quarter.
With 1:25 left in the game,
and Grant Union down by
36-28, Prospector Zack De-
iter went 1-2 at the foul line,
bringing Grant Union within
six points of their opponents.
A11
Denali Twehues and Aubrey
Bowlus played very well.
“They had strong games
and have improved and
worked hard in practice and
will be a big help this week-
end,” he said.
The Monument/Dayville
girls are currently fourth in
league.
