Propeck said he’s looking forward to the season. “We’ve got more athletic kids (this season),” Propeck said. “It allows us to get down the fi eld more. We’re also playing better defense.” Packard said, although the ROUNDUP team is young, he thinks it is go- ing well this season. Unfortunately, Packard will be out for awhile, healing up from an injury. Siddoway said the team is more up to speed compared to where they were this time last year. “I look forward to winning some games,” he said. “I think we’ve got some pret- ty tough kids,” Brogan McKrola said. “They’re young, but they know the game well, and I think we have a pretty good chance of winning some games in league.” Continued from Page A9 players, including senior line- backer Devon Packard, were out due to injury during the game. Prairie City football The Prairie City/Burnt River Panther/Bulls had a rough and tumble game against the Pine Ea- gle Spartans on Friday afternoon. Up against a nonleague var- sity opponent, Prairie City/Burnt River fell 52-0. Panther/Bulls head coach Darrel McKrola said the Pine Eagle varsity team’s larger play- ers overcame their smaller junior varsity team. Two Prairie City/Burnt River Grant Union football The Grant Union football team suffered a 36-20 loss on the road against the Heppner Mustangs. The Mustangs came out strong, gaining 16 points in the fi rst 5 minutes of the game. Grant Union head football coach Jason Miller said, after that, his team “began to play more disci- plined and with more toughness.” In the second quarter, the Prospectors put 6 points on the board, holding Heppner to zero. While Grant Union battled back, they couldn’t overcome for the win. “I am proud of their mental toughness, and we gained a great deal of experience in this game,” Miller said. A highlight from the game in- cluded Prospector Cauy Weaver forcing two turnovers. She highlighted middle school runner Jesse Randleas, who also competed at the event with his fastest time. “I was happy with the ath- letes’ races,” she said. 6.
