July 20, 1916 Grant County Journal 100 years ago July 18, 1941 Blue Mountain Eagle 75 years ago Lightning strikes deer Walt Barnett, forest rang- er at the Lake Creek station, Logan Valley, witnessed a very unusual lightning show Tuesday night. A bolt of lightning struck a big tree and took the top out. Mr. Barnett went to the tree to inspect the fire that usually follows. Instead of a fire he found a forked-horn deer. The buck got under the tree for protection. The lightning ran down the tree, skiddeled off and struck the deer be- hind the ear, ran down the side, burning the hair off and then burned two streaks down the hind legs. The only thing that it failed to do was to fry the meat. July 21, 1966 Blue Mountain Eagle 50 years ago Rabid Bat Bites Monu- ment Man MONUMENT – Ray Cun- ningham, 67, Monument, is making good progress in recovering from a bite by a rabid bat, reports Mrs. Edith Round, Grant County nurse. Cunningham was bitten on the hand when he picked up a bat last Thursday. The bat was checked and found to be carrying rabies by health officials. Dr. August Stevenson, John Day veterinarian, and R.A. Bennett, assistant state vet- erinarian, will conduct the clinic. Dr. Stevenson plans to hold another clinic in John Day at a later date. July 19, 2006 Blue Mountain Eagle 10 years ago Hancock, Smith hook win- ning bass at McKay Nine boats participated in the John Day Valley Bass Club tournament held May 6 on McKay Reservoir. Win- ning the tournament with two largemouth bass weighing 8.48 pounds was Jim Hancock and Jim Smith. Hancock boated the big ¿ sh of the tournament, a 4.37-pound largemouth. Han- cock and Smith’s two ¿ sh outweighed the limits brought in by William Gibbs and Walt Sharp, who placed second With reference to my alleged “paid advertisement” for “Gnostic heresy” in the July 6th paper entitled “Heaven,” a rereading of that paid piece would show that I never said one could gain life everlast- ing through the “Law”. What I said was God’s Laws and Jesus’ distillation of them, are far superior to what passes for law today. Salvation still comes through the “Grace” obtained from the blood of The Lamb of God, Jesus; but “Faith” has been replaced by God’s own proof through revelation for those willing to look with humility and see. What the piece demonstrated was that God and His Word, “The Holy Bible” are glorified with the recognition that “Genesis” was always correct, just as it was back when other church doctrines were wrong and people like Galileo were threatened with being burned at the stake for the heresy of pointing that out. I don’t know from Gnostics, but I doubt they knew any more about space and atmosphere than Moses did. I do know that the “New International Version” has replaced the word “Heaven” with the word “Sky” and as changing words in the Bible is a bit of a heresy itself, even if it does align with Church Doctrine, the end of the Bible warns of what will happen if you do. It wasn’t me that placed the “Firmament ‘” between the “Waters above and below” and called it Heaven. It was God, according to the Bible quote I showed you. Moreover, it wasn’t the Gnostics, or Greeks or Asians I was re- ferring to concerning the end of the “Age”. It was Daniel, 7 And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the wa- ters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished. 8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? 9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. 10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall un- derstand. Dan 12:7-10 (KJV) What I did do is try to demonstrate that “Mankind” has been confused about the location of “Heaven” as God described it since Moses, which is 3,500 years ago: which coincidentally divides into a time, times and a half time. As some Imams are pushing for global Jihad, even as some Rabbis are pushing to remove all none Jews from Old Israel (when Is- rael means “Who Prevail with God” and is not lim- ited to, nor guaranteed by, bloodline) and it seems Christians are being led to battle and selling their children into debt bondage while clergy teach that there are no consequences for one’s actions so long as they have “Faith”: it seems to me that it is the “holy people” who keep us from reconciling our differences and freeing all God’s children. It wasn’t my idea to “reason” together. Unless Isaiah was a fool or a Gnostic rather than a prophet, it was God’s. 18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19 If ye with ¿ ve ¿ sh weighing 5.84 pounds, which included the second big ¿ sh of the tour- nament, a 1.49-pound large- mouth. The husband and wife team of Jesse Madden and Michal Madden placed third with five fish weighing 4.84 pounds; the team of Bill Gibbs and Stan Bird, which brought in ¿ ve ¿ sh weighing 4.41 pounds finished fourth; the father and son team of Rick Gerry and Ryan Gerry, who caught 3.5 pounds of fish, finished fifth; and the team of Francis Martin and Har- old Pickett, who weighed in one keeper at 1.11 pounds, took the sixth-place spot. Kayden Madden, ¿ shing with his parents Jesse and Mi- chal, caught a ¿ sh weighing 1.2 pounds, which would have been the third big ¿ sh of the tournament. The next meeting of the John Day Valley Bass Club will be held at 7 p.m. July 24 at the Outpost restaurant. Any- one interested in bass or bass ¿ shing is invited to attend. Isaiah 1:17- 20 (KJV) If you are content to believe some Gnostic or some Ancient Asian or some Greek espoused something because someone says they did, that’s your right. If you think the credentials given at seminary school make people wiser than a simple reading of the Bible, that’s your right as well. If you want to go to war with a billion Muslims so that your minister doesn’t have to admit that he (or she) was wrong about anything consequential, ever, when the Bible prophesied that all the wise and “Learned” men will be proven wrong, that’s your right too. 11 And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed: 12 And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned. 13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: 14 Therefore, behold, I will pro- ceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a mar- vellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. 15 Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us? 16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no un- derstanding? Isaiah 29:11-16 (KJV) I have paid for space to show you quotes from the King James Version of the Bible so that you can see for yourself what “The Book” says. I will not argue tit for tat over individual scriptures taken out of context. I do not protect any doctrine. I don’t do this work for personal gain, nor do I take dona- tions, nor do I take any pleasure in upsetting good people. Then again, Jesus said only God is good. We have lost our way in this Country: and in the World as a result. Jesus was political. He came out of Galilee as a man of peace: 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Neph- thalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up. 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matt 4:12-17 (KJV) :when the English translation of Galilee is “Revolu- tion”. You’ll notice He says, “Repent” not “Have Faith”. Jesus knew the scriptures He was adding to, even as He completed them, so we are encour- aged to look for Him in Peaceful Revolution. 28 But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. Mark 14:28 (KJV) If you will not read for yourself or have someone read to you, something as small as “Fight Club 2.0” to try and save this Country and the “God Given (Constitutional) Rights” you are losing, then you only have faith that you have the faith required and nothing else. Ricco is the ¿ rst man in this part of the valley to have his hay cut and put away. When the rain came Sunday night he was ready for it. Quite a bit of the hay in the valley is wet, and some damage done, but probably nothing to compare with the good that came from the shower. Wednesday, July 20, 2016 of Jesus even unto death. That path leads to Heaven on Earth on the “Sabbath Day” and the hope and promise of an eternal afterlife through Grace provided by The Lamb of God for those who seek out that path. 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whoso- ever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. Matt 16:24-25 (KJV) “Faith” is not simply trusting that Jesus was The Prophesied Christ. Satan had that much Faith. Nor is “Faith” some talisman to be conjured up like a “Get out of jail free” card. True “Faith” is walking the walk without the hypocrisy that turns others away from God and His Christ, Jesus. I suspect that one person took all the copies of “Fight Club 2.0” that I first left at the library. Hope- fully they shared them. Their replacements sparked little interest. I’ll leave some more if any- one cares enough to do the work required to bring consensus to this broken world. At the end of the pamphlet there is a copy of a letter to the legal lady at Wikipedia. It’s not only the location of Heaven that is misunderstood. It is the time of the battle in Heaven, for Heaven, among the Host of Heaven, to expel evil (metaphorically known as the “Person” of Satan, but more easily recognized as corruption) from Heaven and into “The (metaphorical) Bottom- less Pit” for a thousand years (The Sabbath Day). 8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8 (KJV) 27 And he said unto them, The sab- bath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: 28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. Mark 2:27-28 (KJV) I don’t know what the Gnostics had to say on the matter, but the first two Bible quotes in this piece contain threats from God, not me. I did not publish, what is obviously true about Heaven’s location, to pick a fight with obstinate people, but only to return a lost people to The God so many blind, obtuse, clergy have driven them away from. I wouldn’t bring this down on myself if it were not my cup. This is simply me drinking from it. Back in 2003 I published in a local paper, in the heart of the land, the following: “Today, I come before you, allegori- cally, with my right hand lifted up to heaven and swear by him who lives for ever and ever, who cre- ated heaven and what is in it, and the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, that there should be no more delay, but that in the days of the trumpet call to be sounded by the seventh angel, the mystery of God, as he announced them to his servants the prophets, should be fulfilled.” I left proof of that publishing with The Blue Mountain Eagle. Today I lift my left hand (allegorically) to re- peat that message. I have only done all I was com- manded to do. Do as your God Given Free Will dictates. Russ Denton Paid for by Russ Denton
