Community Blue Mountain Eagle Wednesday, July 13, 2016 A7 COMMUNITIES SHOW PATRIOTIC SPIRIT Blue Mountain Eagle Grant County residents and visitors celebrated a grand Fourth of July week- end with parades in Prairie City, Monument and Day- ville. Long Creek also held its annual July 4 Founders Day picnic. Dayville held a parade and car show on Saturday, July 2, along with contests. Monument and Prairie City held their festivities on July 4, with crowds flocking to their fireworks displays that eve- ning. This year’s picnic at the city park had about 50 people attending. Hamburgers and hot dogs were served up by Pastor Ed Studtmann and others brought potluck salads and desserts. Organizers include Reiba Carter Smith, Gay Pruit, city recorder Marcie Watson and Mayor Don Porter and his wife, Denise. The Fourth of July gath- ering, held at noon, usually includes a presentation on one of Long Creek’s found- ing families.
