Canyon City relives ’62 Days
Blue Mountain Eagle
CANYON CITY — The
’62 Days was as lively as
ever last weekend, with
plenty of activities for adults
and children.
A highlight of the event,
which celebrates the dis-
covery of gold on June 8,
1862, was Saturday’s pa-
rade, which included many
entries and a big crowd of
spectators.
Behind the scenes, orga-
nizing all the festivities, was
the Whiskey Gulch Gang.
Here are the results:
Commercial division —
First place: Pioneer Feed;
second place: Oregon Trail
Heavy Haul; third place:
John Day Polaris.
Schools and organiza-
tions — First place: For-
est Access for All; second
place: John Day Volunteer
and Rural Fire Department.
Horse-drawn vehicles
— First place: Rusty Clark

Classic vehicles — First
place: Ron Phillips, 1929
