PRAIRIE CITY — Author
Jane Nagler, whose writings are
inspired by her Prairie City an-
cestors, will hold a book sign-
ing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat-
urday, June 11, at the DeWitt
Museum in Prairie City.
A resident of East
Wenatchee, Washington, Na-
gler’s fi rst historical novel,
“By the River,” published
last year, was inspired by her
great-grandmother Sarah Ann
Manwaring.
Her newest novel “Secrets
from the Little Red Box” is
based on letters Manwar-
ing’s youngest daughter kept,
which were penned by a min-
er named Harry.
Nagler writes under the
pseudonym Jae Carvel.
The author said she’ll bring
the box of letters, which were
written between 1911-1914,
with her to the book signing.
Nagler said the novels’ pri-
mary source of history comes
from her family.
“They all came in covered
wagons (to Prairie City),”
she said. “They’re all buried
there.”
