FRIDAY- SATURDAY, NOV. 6-7 ‘Loved – The Fare- well Tour 6:30 p.m. Friday, Baker City Nazarene Church The event, which fea- tures 10 speakers inspir- ing women with compel- ling stories and humor, as well as live music and shopping, will be simul- cast from Baker City Nazarene Church, 1250 Hughes Lane, Baker City. Friday’s activities start at 6:30 p.m., and Sat- urday’s schedule runs from 8:45 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Admission is $25 a person or $10 for students, and in- cludes a catered lunch and refreshments. SATURDAY, NOV. 7 Author reading and fundraiser 4-6:30 p.m., Canyon City Community Hall Former Grant Coun- ty resident Sam Cronin, author of “Warm Gold,” will host an author read- ing, followed by a ques- tion-and-answer period and book signing. Copies of the book will be available to purchase. The informal event is a fundraiser with 30 percent going to fami- lies affected by the Canyon Creek Complex Fire. Blue Mountain Eagle Whether you’re looking to scare, be scared, or just have a little fun, there are plenty of Halloween events coming up to suit just about everyone. Here’s a roundup of the haunting happenings in Grant County: Thursday, Oct. 29 Children’s party, 6-8:30 p.m., Elks Lodge, 140 N.E. Dayton St., John Day. Cos- tume contest for ages 0-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12, ghoulish games, freaky fun and fright- ening food. Admission is $1 or one can of food per child. Costume party, 6-9 p.m., Grant County Library, 507 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day. Scavenger hunt, bobbing for apples, prizes and treats. Ad- mission is free. Friday, Oct. 30 Carnival, 6-8 p.m., Prai- rie City School old gym. Lots of new games, cotton candy, costume contest and prizes. Tickets are four for $1. Lodge Halloween par- ty, 7-9:30 p.m., John Day Elks Lodge. Teens 13-18 are welcome. Laser tag, mu- sic featuring The Creative Light Project, costume and dance contest, T-shirt paint- ing, neon painting, food and games. Admission is $1 or one can of food per person. Separate admission to laser tag is $1 or one can of food. Halloween party, 2 p.m., Blue Mountain Care Center, Prairie City. Open to the public; all ages wel- come. College students will visit local businesses showing off their extreme make up and hair design skills, and inviting families to trick-or-treat at EOCIA.
