We had lasagna, green salad, apple juice, rolls, and blueberry/man- go individual ‘hand’ pies for dessert. Don’t miss the April 1 meal, because it will really be something special. That’s all I am go- ing to say; you just better come and see. It was March birthday recognition day. I man- aged to find three people with a March birthday: Jack Pickle, Jim How- ard and Lana Abarr. Jim’s granddaughter Samantha drew his number, so he won the $10 in trade from Huffman’s Market. Jean Kline won the $5 in trade from Prairie Hardware and Gifts. Buzz led the flag salute, and Karla Teague asked the blessing. We had 75 names on the registration book. Our servers were Lana Abarr, Sandi Rennels, Kar- la Teague and Donna Ad- ams. The Blue Mountain Care Center ladies, Lor- na and Patty, brought Dorothy Blasing, Dolli- na Humphreys, Lois Hill and Floyd Hawkins. Other guests were Crystal Wim- berley who is the Kulis’ granddaughter, and the afore-mentioned Saman- tha and her sister Kaitlyn Howard. There will be another AARP safe driver class Wednesday, May 20. Sign- up sheet is on the bulletin board behind the kitchen door. Speaking of grandchil- dren visiting, we planned to go to Portland this week, too, but Derrol’s dizziness and stiff neck problems precluded it. So we went to see another doctor instead. Gotta keep the wheels of commerce turning, you know. We go back next month and get a special scan of his neck to see if there is a place they can put an injection to ease the pain. Didn’t sound like he was a candidate for any surgery at this point, which is fine with him. Planted crocuses around the sign base at Prairie Baptist Church. They’ve waited patiently out in the shed all winter. They started putting out shoots, so I assume they’ll keep growing and not wait until next year. The company shipped them to me too late to plant last fall. Noticed that the “En- tering Grant County” sign coming out of Wheeler County is gone – again. Wonder what joy comes from blasting informa- tional signs. Beyond me. Remember the Good Friday services April 3 at Grace Chapel and Prai- rie Baptist, then the com- bined Easter celebration at the Prairie City School old gym on Sunday, April 5.
