HEALTHCARE Grant County has quality medical treatment and services available BLUE MOUNTAIN HOSPITAL Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day, serving the community since the 1940s, is known for small-town caring and personal attention with a wide variety of medical offerings. Around-the-clock emergency services are available at the 25-bed hospital as well as doctor visits at the clinic located in the building. The hospital, located at 170 Ford Road, also offers surgery, ICU, CCU, labor and delivery with birthing rooms, physical therapy, X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI scans, digital mammography, cardiopulmonary testing, full-service laboratory and more. Providing healthcare are Dr. Keith Thomas, general surgeon at Blue Mountain Surgery Clinic Drs. Andrew Janssen, Andrea Janssen, Zachary Bailey, Dave Hall, Emily Lieuallen, and family nurse practitioners Shawna Clark and Nora Healey-Drinnon at Strawberry Wilderness Community Clinic. Blue Mountain Hospital paramedics and EMTs offer countywide ambulance service for quick transportation of emergency patients to the hospital. When the need arises, AirLink of Oregon, a Bend-based medical flight serv- ice, works in cooperation with the hospital providing flights to hospitals and medical centers throughout the Pacific Northwest. The hospital has an agreement with AirLink’s membership program for air and ground services, however, the hospital encourages people to also purchase air-only membership for LifeFlight Network. Blue Mountain Hospital operates Blue Mountain Care Center in Prairie City, a 48-bed intermediate care facility. They are Medicaid certified only (not Medicare), offering long- term care, day care and respite care. They also provide home health and hospice services. For more information, call 541-575-1311 or visit www.bluemountainhospital.org GRANT COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT The department's team of health profes- sionals, including Karen Triplett FNP, offer a wide variety of services, including primary care, acute care, physicals, family planning, immunizations, dental clinic, WIC and much more. All patients, including women who are pregnant, can recieve help accessing the Ore- gon Health Plan, if needed. While maternity care is not offered at the office, registered nurse Jenni Workman provides maternity case management, home visiting, CaCoon and Babies First. The health department, located at 528 E. Main, John Day, also offers the state Contraceptive- Care Program, providing services for women and men who need contraception, at no cost to them when they qualify for the program as well as a wide range of other family planning services. All mandated and recommended children's vaccines are offered. No child will be denied immunizations due to the inability to pay. Sheila Comer, who is the coordinator for the dental clinic, also manages the Tobacco Prevention Program.
