G RANT C OUNTY M EETINGS Quality Healthcare Close To Home 170 Ford Road, John Day • 541-575-1311 • www.bluemountainhospital.org ADMINISTRATIVE COMMENTS By Bob Houser, CEO, FACHE Looking back over the past 15 years and 7 months of my tenure as CEO of Blue Mountain Hospital, many thoughts come back in waves from the halls of my memory bank. The old building circa late 50’s, worn out equipment, two doctors when I arrived, lots of good staff and two 3-1/2 year-old twins, 11-year- old and an understanding wife who has been by my side during everything for over 24 plus years. Together, we chose Grant County to be our home, raise our children and do our best to help make Blue Mountain Hospital a better facility. While this is my last column, the accomplishments are not just mine but of our whole team and I am confident that BMH/BMCC will continue to grow and make the District stronger as a whole. Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with our board of directors and with the management company, HealthTech, whom the board has chosen to help direct the operations of the district. It has been at times a challenging experience but a rewarding one and I thank all of them for their dedicated service to the hospital, care center and people of Grant County. The one thing that I take pleasure in is seeing the staff that have been promoted from within and the success that they have had in whatever position they hold. We have given local people the opportunity to grow and become excellent leaders and they have excelled. Kudos to each and everyone of you for exceeding even my wildest expectations. I sincerely hope that the people of Grant County realize that the physicians, surgeons and staff of the district are ones that they can and should be proud of. Each of them strives to do their best in meeting your healthcare needs. Are we perfect? No, we are not. Not one healthcare worker, physician, surgeon, board member, CEO or whatever your position is, is perfect, NOT ANYWHERE. But what I can tell you is we will continue to make our service better for you and give you what we advertise: “Quality Healthcare Close to Home.” My family thanks Grant County for allowing us to become part of your family in the past, as well as in the future. It has been and continues to be one heck of a ride. NATIONAL DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM Begins January 13th 2015 What?
