day afternoon and announced that
tho Hod Cross had secured tho Mrs.
Tom Allen home where Mrs. Clark
baa been living, for headquarters for
the nurses and those taking care of
lafhMBSa patients. Up to the pres
ent time the nurses have hud a hard
t i in fludlr.K quarters where they
could go for rest and get BMk with
out exposing others. Now this MM
been provided and Mrs. Qraham
slates that many of the neighbors
have brought provisions, such as
meats, milk, vegetables, etc. to help
in the good cause.

I must try to tell you how much
your work Is appreciated. The Red
(Jcoss workers have done so much
for a great cause, and I only wish I

in convoying our troopi, I enlisted
in the navy on April 19. 1917, from
Reno Nevada, and was sworn inlo

ington, a first class armored Cruiser,
the 12 of May 1917. We left San
Francisco and by the way of Panama,
went to New York, and started our
rfuUes transporting or convoying

recently when I was sent to Charles
ton, S. C. then by rail to Bremerton

I am expecting to leave here about
next Monday on the new cargo trans
