The meeting of the Saphira Chapter of the Ladies’ Associa tion for the Dissemination of Mis- infoi mation about our Neighbors was a great success. The reputa tions of several young girls who had been guilty of youthful follies were ruined for life, and the moral scalp of a clergyman was added to the society’s trophies. A resolution to furnish members with postal cards, with cards for answer attached, for convenience in interrogating people all about their private business, was voted down, on the ground that such in quiries might be deemed impert inent ,or, if answered, might com pel the society to accept the truth. The subject for regular debate was, “Are Women Brainless Because of Tea and Tattle, or are Tea and Tattle Because Women Are Brainless?” The discussion became quite heat ed, and the subject was somewhat obs< ui cd by the personalities in dulged in and the more or less dir« it allusions to the shady past of some of the member* added in terest to what, taken as a whole, was one of the most successful meetings of the chapter. —C. E. S. Wood in The Pacific Monthly for August. There is growing fear in Berlin court circles that the crown prince of Prussia, eldest son of the kaiser, may carry out his declared pur pose to cootract a morganatic marrage with some American girl. The young man, headstrong and erratic as his father, has asserted more than once that when he weds his bride will be a native of this country. On several occasions he has paid volient court to American stage beauties, his lat est flame having set him on fire more fiercely than ever.—Ex.
