They should not expect too much from our citizens in the way of premiums, as the amount sub scribed must necessarily be dis tributed among many exhibits in order to get a variety displayed. The Fair is gotten up especially for the benefit of the farmers and stock-raisers and for the purpose ot furthering their interests. They should take a pride in home pro ducts and live stock. They should take an interest and profit by the experience of their neighbors. It should also be remembered that the exhibits at the coming Fair may be a great factor in the fnture of the county, in so far as the government irrigation work is concerned. It will be seen by the report of Chief Hydrogapher Newell and his expressions in re gard to irrigation in Oregon, which will be found on the first page of this issue, that he favois this section to a certain extent. AA/e should make a special ef fort to give the Government a good impression of this section and show that the country is pro ductive and not a mere wild waste where nothing would grow even if water were secured. The’tTimes-Herald hopes see every man woman and child in Burns, out to the benefit per formance given bv the Georgia Harper Co., at Locher’s Hall, Wendesday night, September 9. “Married for Money” is the bill, and it is repeated at the urgent request of all who had witnessed the perf< irmanee befoie. Bear in mind, every cent goes toward buying .1 town clock or circulating library, as the people decide. No complimentary tickets will be is sued tor the performance and not a "rubberneck” will be allowed in the house. The Times-Herald does the printing free, the hall has been donated, the Electric Light and Power Co. furnish the lights and there will be no ex pense whatever. The bill is one of the most laughable comedies ever written and one in which Joe Detrick shows his wonderful tal ent as a comedian. Don’t miss it. The people aie assured a tine en tertainment and they are helping themselves by attending. i Times-Herald suggested the playing of a A benefit by the Georgia Harper Co. for the purpose of buying a town clock. It was at once accepted by that excellent dramatic company, and they will produce "Married for Money,” a side- -plitting comedy on Wednesday, Sept. 9, the entire receipts to go toward the benefit. The Times- Iler.ild has secured the hall free of charge and there will lx- no expense whatever. to erecting a tower and placing the clock on the courthouse. Both officers have given their word that the county would go to that expense when the 1 loi k was received. The Georgia Harper Co. has no preference in the matter and it is left to the property owners and people interested to decide what the fund shall be used for a clock or a library. ■ | HE Times-Herald will place a box at the Post A Office in which to deposit coupons printed be low on which the people may indicate their prefer ence. All property owners or householders are allowed one vote.
