Public Notice and Notice of Public Hearing The City of Burns is eligible to apply for a 2022 Community De- velopment Block Grant from the Business Oregon. Community Development Block Grant funds come from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Develop- ment. The grants can be used for public facilities and housing im- provements, primarily for persons with low and moderate incomes. Approximately $12 million will be awarded to Oregon non-metro- politan cities and counties in 2022. The maximum grant that a city or county can receive is $400,000. The City of Burns is preparing an application for a 2022 Community Development Block Grant from the Business Oregon for Residential Housing Rehabilitation for Owner Occu- pied homes. The project area will be The City of Burns, City of Hines and Harney County residents. The funding will ad- dress critical needs and health and safety issues. It is esti- mated that the proposed project will benefit at least 35 persons, of whom 100% will be low or mod- erate income. A public hearing will be held by the city council at 6:15 p.m. on August 24th at the Burns City Hall. The purpose of this hearing is for the city coun- cil to obtain citizen views and to respond to questions and com- ments about community develop- ment and housing needs, especially the needs of low- and moderate-income persons, as well as other needs in the com- munity that might be assisted with a Community Development Block Grant project; and the pro- posed project. Written comments are also welcome and must be received by 5 p.m., August 24th at 242 S. Broadway. Both oral and written comments will be considered by the city council in deciding whether to apply. The location of the hearing is acces- sible to persons with disabilities.
