the former Barbara Newman of
Bend, is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Miles D. Newman, 506
E. Franklin Avenue. The baby
weighed 7 pounds, 9 ounces, and
has been named Robert Alan.
Tall Pines Extension Unit will
meet on Thursday, November
21, at 10 a.m. with Mrs. Harlan
Buckingham, U.S. Highway 97
North, as hostess. The program
will be "Twelve Days of Christ
mas." Mrs. Robert C. White and
four children, who have been
visiting in Bend with her par
ents, Col. and Mrs. Cliff Gers
bach, will leave this week for
the East, where Mrs. White will
be joined by her husband, an
Air Force sergeant presently
stationed in Germany. The fam
ily will go by air from McGuire
Air Force Base to Europe. Mrs.
Gersbach is accompanying her
daughter East, and will visit
her family in Glenolden, Pa.,
planning to return to Bend in
early December. Mrs. Gers
bach is a member of the Des
chutes National Forest clerical
staff.

District 14, will hold its Novem
ber meeting Thursday, Novem
ber 21, at 7:30 p.m. The meet
ing place will be St. Charles
Memorial Hospital. Dr. A. E.

Eagles Auxiliary will sponsor
the third in a series of six pino
chle parties Thursday, Novem
ber 21, starting at 8 p.m. in the
Tropicaerie Room. All aerie
and auxiliary members and
their guests are invited. High
scores in last week's play were

men and Mrs. George Stokoe

Donald E. Brown, gunner's
mate first class in the U.S. Na
vy, is serving aboard the guid
ed missile destroyer USS Robin
son. Brown is the husband of
the former Miss Kay S. Van
Landuyt of Route 1, Redmond.
The Robinson participated in
two weeks of amphibious exer
cises which ended last week

Veterans of Foreign Wars, will

a farewell party, at a meeting

morning for New York City, to
depart for Germany to join the
husband and father, who is in

at city hall.
Street paving resolutions con

Zoning ordinances to receive
second reading are the enlarge

LAS VEGAS (UPI)-The Las
Vegas Sun building was gutted
by fire early this morning as
the newspaper was completing
the run of its final morning
edition.
Fire officials said only a few
employes were In the building
at the time the blaze started.
No one was injured although
ine Duuaing appeared to be a
total loss.
The fire was believed to have
started in the office area of the
morning newspaper which has
an audited weekday circulation
of 25,893 and a Sunday circu
lation of 25,694.
No estimate had yet been
made of damage caused by the
fire which broke out shortly be
fore dawn.
Tentative plans were being
made to establish temporary
newspaper offices In the Hotel
Sahara on the Strip.

John Muniers "
John E. Munier, who retired!
November 1 after many year
as a logger, was honored, with
his wife, at a dinner party Sat
urday night. Mr. and Mrs. Mu
nier make their home at 415
Hill Street.
Munier had worked for the
Harold Barclay Logging Co., irr
Sisters, since March, 1951. B(
fore that, he was employed 30
years by The Shevlin - H i x o n
Company. The party was given)
by the Barclay fallers and their
wives. Thirty-two persons were
present.
The affair was held at WalU
er's Kitchen, 301 E. Franklin
Avenue, formerly the B C Cafe.
Munier has been a Bend resi
dent 43 years. A native of Los
Angeles, he came to Central
Oregon from Wasco county. .
