(UPI) -President Arch Kingsley of the Portland baseball club is "not very optimistic" about the Bea vers' future. The Kansas City Athletics Wednesday canceled "with re gret" their working agreement with Portland. The Beavers also are not certain of a place to play next season because Mult nomah Stadium where they nor mally perform is for sale. Portland's future in the PCL probably will be decided at the minor league meetings in San Diego Dec. 1-3. "I don't know where we can go from here. Wood, though not the largest of the Bend forwards, has been a "demon" for enemy ball carriers all season. He is scheduled for action against Prineville Saturday. (UPI) -A federal district judge ruled Thursday that the Saturday Evening Post could receive a fair trial here in Alabama Coach Paul (Bear) Bryant's $10-million libel suit. Judge H. Hobart Grooms said Curtis Publishing Co. did not present a "strong enough case of adverse publicity" for a rul ing that an unbiased jury could not be found in the state. Bryant filed the suit on the basis of a Post article, "The Story of a College Football Fix" which said former Georgia Ath letic Director Wallace Butts gave him game secrets before the 1962 Alabama-Georgia game.
