Brandis wins again in Little League action Three losing nines in the Bend Little Leagues were only able to score single runs last night in ac tion on the city's ball parks. Moose Little Leaguers found the going real tough over at Harmon Field in a National League go. Brandis batters turned their at tention to the horsehide, and kept ' hitting it until they had the Moose nine overwhelmed to the tune of 6-1. Brandis bad a big fourth inn ing, scoring three of its six tal lies. Brandis scored two more in the sixth, and managed to put one across in the second. Moose baseballers scored their lone tally in the third frame when Grant Radke stole home. Over at Marshall Field, the Elks lone tally was barely outdone by the Eagles' three runs. The Eag les didn't win it in any one inn ing. They spread out the scoring over three frames, scoring one tally each in the third, fifth, and sixth Innings. Elks' lone score came In the bottom of the sixth. Gary Dresser went, the distance on the hill for the winners. He gave up only three hits. It was a National Lea gue fracas. In Cascade League action, Hea ly's had litUe trouble with the VFW nine, posting a 7-1 triumph. Healy's cause was aided by the supreme batting of catcher Mike McCool, who clobbered two home runs. He hit one circuit blast In the third and another In the fifth. Mc Cool got three hits in three official trips to the plate. A lone tally for the Vets was scored in the third frame. It hap pened when short stop Newl bang ed a double to score right field er Jarvis from second. Jarvis got aboard when he banged a double himself. Murray Bros., AFL post wins Eight runs by two Bend Rookie League teams were enough for victories this week in baseball ac tion at Harmon Field. Monday night saw Brian Metke, Murray Brothers mound ace, toss a one-hit, 8-1 victory over the Lel co Rookies. Metke's pitching feat Monday was the top mound performance so far this year. He gave up his only hit in the sixth inning, and it resulted in a Lelco tally. Metke walked Lelco reliefer Johnson, and then catcher Scott came to bat and clobbered a long ball deep into center that scored Johnson and put him on third with a triple. Murray Brothers, however, ex ploded for four runs in a fourth inning splurge, and then came back for two apiece in the fifth and sixth frames. Metke proved to be the all around hero of the evening, help ing his own cause by hitting a circuit blast in the fourth frame. Reminiscent of... Two of Randall's tallies came in the third inning, and another crossed the plate in the sixth frame. In the meantime, AFL Rookie baseballers, after getting four tallies in the second, picked up one apiece in the fourth and sixth innings, and two more in the fifth. A look at the score card reveals Allen will Liverpool, Ohio, made his man ager's words look good Tuesday night when the Twins beat the Chicago White Sox, 8-6, for their 16th victory in 20 games and moved to within 2(4 games of the American League lead. Allen went to the plate in the ninth inning with one out and Rich Rollins on second base. First base was open but White Sox re lief ace Hoyt Wilhelm elected to pitch to the .146-hitter, who had made only seven singles in his previous 68 trips to the plate. But Allen crossed up the strat egy with a double to right center field and then scored the icing run on a pinch single by Jimmy Hall. The win went to relief pitch er Bill Dailey, who gave up one run in 2 innings and now has allowed only that single tally in fit ! , - ' . , half of a double bill. Action was at Madras.
