Is convalescing. Mrs. Charles Johnson and clill dren returned from a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl l.indqulst of Powell lJutte, Haying is In full blast. Farmers are saving on hired help by helping each other. William Spencer nnd family arc preparing to go to The Dalles to pick fruit and may seek a pcrma nent location there. Iloo Leonard and family, when last heard from, wero in North Bond, Wash. Mr. Leonard had stood the trip well. Glenn Do Janvier of Terrebonne visited several days In Alfalfa and attended tho picnic at tho lloti ranch. Grandpa Hethorn visited friends In Bend Tuesday and Wednesday llev. George X. Edwards of Walla Walla, representing tho Congrega tional Sunday School society In Ida do, Washington and Oregon, met with tho people at the Alfalfa school house Sunday afternoon and after a lino discourse assisted in organizing a Sunday school. Mrs. Albert Shults was chosen superintendent, with Mrs. Charles Johnson as assistant. Teachers are Mrs. Rolln Hethorn, Miss Elonor Hohensteln and Miss Verna Shults. Miss Shults Is also secretary-treasurer. Accompanying Itev. Edwards was James Price of Portland, manager of the Pilgrim Hoys chorus of 1000 boys. Mr. Price gave a talk that added much to the Interest of tho meeting. Mrs. Eva Braggs and son, Seward, of Bend, were greeting old neigh bors in Alfalfa on the Fourth. Mr. and Mrs. H. Ruffe and Mrs. Mary Benn accompanied friends on a fishing expedition at Davis lake. Miss Nannie Stoeffler has received word that her brother Charles Is seriously ill In Astoria. Mrs. Anna Little of Powell Butto is cooking for Melvln Crow during tho haying season. The Jolly Neighbors met with Mrs. Horsell July 6. SEWING CLUB HOLDS MEETING AT SISTERS SISTEItS. June 12. A very en joyable day was spent by the mem bers of the Sisters Try club last Thursday at the home of Miss Irel Harrington. The class will meet at the homo of the Misses Thelma and Nellie Zumwalt on the MetoliU3 river on July 20. Mrs. Ed Lelthauser returned from the river, where she has been camp ing, last week and went back to the river Friday. Misses Irel Hurrlngton and Cecile Robbing were In Cloverdale Friday. Mrs. M. Harrington accompanied M. W. Knickerbocker to Bend on Thursday to have some dental work done. The picnic held here the Fourth was enjoyed greatly.
