An improvement that is worthy Of mention is the removal by A. M. Lara of the abed-like contrivance on the south side of the B. M. store under which was kedt a stock pf blacksmith's iron. By those of us who have seen it there so long, it was not realised that the removal of tlic shed would make as great an improvement as it has. A little later Mr. Lara will paint the build ing' both outside and in;' Mr. and Mrs. Joe 'Taylor were in Bend Thursday from tlieir ranch on Crooked river. They were buy ing furniture for their new home. Last summer when Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were absent in the Valley, their. little four year-old daughter, who had been left in the care of a nurse, went upstairs, lit a larlipand in some manner set the bouse on fire.
