'll * High Schooll The students of the New High School are organised In tw o literary societies: “ Leta Alpha” and “ Prions.” The first meet ing of the societies was held Fri day afternoon, Oct. 16, and offi cers elected. The following were elected by the Leta Alpha: pres., Claude Larkin; vice pres., Maude Gregory; sec., Merle Youngs; treas., Etta Andrews; organist. Maude Gregory; marshall, Ervin Hodson; critic, Glenn Paxton The meetings o f the Leta Alpha will be held on the 1st and 3rd Friday afternoons o f each month and those o f the Prions on the 2nd and 4th Friday afternoons. There will be literary and music- programs given and on special occasions debates and contests between the tw o societies. A cor dial invitation is extended to the fnends and patrons o f the school. Come and encourage us by your presence. Prof. McIntosh has resigned his position as Principal o f the H. S. and Mr. Wm. Kletcher has been chosen as his successor and began work Monday morning. Wilma Finley and Ruth Gilbert have been chosen by the High School Y. W. C. A. as delegates to the Y. W. C. A. Convention which convenes in Salem Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. L a s t Saturday afternoon a football game was played on the College campus by the Newberg High School and McMinnville. The home team won the game with a score of 11 to 0. - The H. S. is organized into a ‘Student Body” with the follow ing officers: pres., Bruce Henry; vice pres., Claude Larkin; Maude Gregory; treasurer to be elected. Tuesday evening in Duncan’s hall a reception was tendered Profs. McIntosh and Kletcher by the Student Body. The evening’s entertainment consisted o f a short program, games and a gen eral good time for all. Bruce Henry, President ofStudentBody, spoke words o f welcome to Mr. Kletcher and Prof. Wiley spoke Farewell, in behalf o f the stu dents, to Prof. McIntosh, pre senting him w ith an elegantly engraved silver cup as a token of their good wishes and apprecia tion o f his work. After a social hour had been spent, light re freshments were served and the students departed for their homes. Teachers’ Institute is in session at.McMinnville this week.
