On Monday, February 10, a
very pleasant family gathering
occurred at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Benj. Heater at Spring-
brook, the occasion being Mr.
Heater’s eighty-seventh birth

cial chat enlivened by the frolics
o f the young folks, while at noon
an excellent dinner was served.
Mr. and Mrs. Heater are o f that

population, the pioneers, they
haring crossed the plains to Ore

claim which is still their home.
Those helping Mr. Heater cele

good circumstances at -the time

Pres. W. I. Kelsey arrived with
his family from Indiana last Sun
day morning and during the
week they have been fitting up
for housekeeping in the new cot
tage, recently completed by the
Williams sisters, near the public
school grounds on the north
east. Owing to the sudden and
unexpected change in the finan
cial situation throughout the
country, he was unable to ac
complish all he had hoped tor
for the college, but he received
some assistance for present needs
and he hopes for better results in
the near future. He will take up
work in the college and also con
tinue his work as solicitor lor
