In view o f this fact and in memory of the services rendered to our country, nothing w e have w ill be to o good for them during their 3tay in New berg. Oar business houses w ill be decorated in honor o f their com ing, our homes w ill be o p en « fo r their com fort and everything possible w ill be done to make their stay com fortable and pleas ant. A hearty greeting to every old soldier and a hearty greeting to the w ives o f the soldiers who shall register in Newberg during encampment. Dundee School Picnic. The Dundee public school pic nic last M onday was a great su ccess, and a day o f pleasure lon g to be remembered by old and young. It was held on the school gounds which are the nicest in the county. The grand old oak and fir trees furnishing ample shade and the large ^nd w ell kept lawn in front w ere appreciated when the ganies were called. Stretching to the w est and south over the rolling hills for miles is the largest prune orchard in the w orld and the T lios. Prince English walnut orchard and also the Allan apple orchards. From the grounds, several snow caps o f the Cas cades and the W illam ette River, w ith the steamers plying there on, are plainly in view . Just now the numerous hop yards aura beautiful sight. These w ith the w aving grainfields, orchards laden w ith fruit, the dairy-herds, the clover fields, the busy bee, the cozy farm houses, the great fru it driers and packing, houses, the passing trains, the Coast Range mountain* covered w ith her vast millions o f evergreen tim ber all speak ot a thrifty, happy people.
