Obituary of Alfred Moore.
Alfred M oore was born near
Salem, Washington county, In­
diana, M ay 4, 1820, died at
Lents, Oregon, M ay 30, 1907.
He was married to M artha Kerr
in 1842. T o them were born
thirteen children, five sons and
eight daughters. Of those now
living, there are, Mrs. S. J. Riley
and Mrs. Ida Macy, o f Chico,
California; Mrs. Laura Wright,
Seattle; Mrs. Ella F. W ood, New
Providence, Iow a; Mrs. M attie
Me Daniel, Portland, Chas. F.
and Alfred E. M oore, Newberg;
Dr. J. B. M oore, Lents, and Rev.
Frank L. M oore, Kelso, Wash­
ington.
For tw enty-tw o years, from
1855 to 1877 the family lived bn
a farm near New Providence,
Iow a, after which they removed
to Oregon. While living on a
farm dear Dayton, Mrs. M oore
died, August 6,1886. Later on
Alfred M oore removed to New­
berg where he made his home,
until tw o years, ago when he
went to live with his son, Dr. J.
B. M oore at Lents, where he died.
The deceased was a birthright
member o f the Friends church,
but later on united with the M.
E. church. He was an active,
energetic man, a great reader,
and retained his faculties well to
the end, which came without
sickness or pain.
The funeral was held on last
Friday at the home o f his son,
C. F. M oore, in Newberg, the
services being conducted by Rev
Herbert T. Cash, pastor of
Friends church.
