The students of the college, ac tum pc nied by several members t>» the faculty, had a ro yal time Inst F rid ay evening a s the guests of M r. and Mrs. E . S . C raven a t their pleasant home a mile north of town, It w a s an outdoor p arty, and the absence o f stiff formalities, to g eth er w ith the cortlial hospitality o f the host ami hostess, made it impossible not to have an enjoyable tirpe. M r. Craven had d raw n up some big logs into the y a rd and on them w a s built a monster bonfire, in the light o f which the young people played gam es and made merry generally. The re freshments were in entire keeping w ith the spirit of the occasion. H astily contrived spits were pro duced and each took his piece ot l>eef steak and cooked it over the i burning logs. It w a s a striking picture—the sight o f the you ng people crouching on either side the fire tor a distance o f some forty feet, enthusiastically en gaged in the attem pt to get their steak done to as good a turn as were their façes. A good old fashioned tafhfe pull followed. The evening w,as rounded off w ith singing, the sound o f the choruses being wafted in to tow n. W ith three cheers for their host and hostess, the young people took their w a y homeward a t a late hour. ■i H a l l o • • »■— * w e ’ en p a r t y . It is not often th at a jollier com pany meets to celebrate any occasion than did a crow d of about fifty college students which gathered a t Dr. Little field’s bam last Saturday* on the occasion of Halloween. The dec orations were one o f the most pleasing features o f the evening. F ir boughs, mapel and misletoe were everywhere, cozy com ers added their usual charm, while faces of jack-o-lantem s lent their usual smiling approval. The young men came in a body “ all in w hite" and it w a s their first dutv to guess w ho the strange apparitions before them might greatest number w a s aw arded to Orville Johnson. Refreshments suitable for the occasion were served, after which all w ent to the G yp sy tent to learn their fate. In m any a chapel talk has the expresson ‘ ‘ Your future is before yo u ” fallen on the ears of the young, but never has that future been so revealed as it w a s by the G yp sy maiden. Pres, and Mrs. H. E . M cGrew and Prof, and M rs. H. N. W right chaperoned the com pany in a manner which showed th at they too enjoyed such occasions. M rs. J . H. Douglas showed much skill in manufacturing a fate for each one present. On the evening o f October 27 th a farewell reception w a s tendered M r. and Mrs. Charles Larkin of west Dayton.
