Burris and Mrs. Frank Bryan of River street have been on the sick list this week. Mrs C. F ; Moore and children went up to Wklamina Wednes day evening, called by the illness of Mrs. Moore’s mother. ^ Our lady attendant has some fine muslin underwear to show to the ladies of Newberg when in the store of Porter & Larkin’s. .Joseph Hall put on exhibition in the postoffice a few days ago a sample of the blackberries that are white berries, with which he is experimenting. W. E. White left this morning on a tw o weeks business trip to Moro, Sherman '’ county. . He went by w av of Goldendale, Washington, where his wife is visiting at her old home. - Zim Mills, of Springbrook who is wanting tp build a house, came in to look for a carpenter Wednesday but found that avail able workmen of that craft are as scarce as the proverbial hen’s tooth. Fletcher Cox, who is employed in the Indian service as engineer at the Fo rt Belknap Indian school at Harlem, Montana, is on his summer vacation and got back to Newberg Tuesday even ing. His wife stopped off in Idaho to visit relatives. A convention for the purpose oi organizing an Oregon Develop ment League will be held in Portland August 2nd and 3rd under the auspices of the Port land Commercial Club, and it is the purpose that representatives from every part of the state be in attendance. The mayor of every town and all editors are considered delegates, and mayors are furthertpore requested to name five additional delegates from their respective towns. The five named by M ayor Parker from Newl>erg, are Clarence Butt, Jesse Edwards, C. K. Spaulding, F. H. Caldwell and Dr. Geo. Larkin.
