When the first public session
o f Oregon Yearly Meeting was
called to order Tuesday morning,
a good attendance was noted
from other meetings, much bet­
ter in fact than from Newberg.
As the meeting progresses how­
ever, the attendance increases.
Among the visitors are Rev
Amos Kenworthy o f San Jose,
California, and Rev. Walter Vail
o f Philadelphia, though directly
from San Jose.
The first hour o f Tuesday
morning’s meeting was entirely
devotional, many members join­
ing in the service. The keynote
oi the meeting was struck by
Pres. McGrew. He said, “ We
should not so much be concerned
for individual blessing as .for
God’s overflow, which shall reach
out and give life to the passer­
by.” Another impressive truth
stated by Rev. Jas. Price of
Salem—“ God is standing at the
flood gates o f our lives waiting
to turn on the power to set in
motion the machinery o f the
perfect life. And how many ot
us refuse to raise the gates!”
On taking up the business o f
the meeting, reports from New­
berg and Salem quarters were
read showing the spiritual state
of the church. The epistle from
California Yearly Meeting was
read.

opened by devotional services
conducted by Rev.
Elwood
Knight, followed
remarks by Rev. John F. Han­
son.
Epistles were read from Kansas
and Iow a Yearly Meetings. The
permanent board report that
1000 copies o f the uniform dis­
cipline had been printed, 50
copies o f which were bound in
cloth, at a cost o f $136. The
recommendation was made that
the trustees be directed to pur­
chase a case suitable for a de­
pository for the documents
belonging to thechurch, and-that
James Vestal be appointed as
custodian o f the same. The rec-
omiftendations were adopted.
The conference. committee re­
ported that one very profitable
conference was held during the
winter at Marian.
A memorial to congress in
opposition to polygamy which
is being circulated by the National
Federation o f Women was direct­
ed signed and forwarded to
Washington.
The clerk was directed to send
a message o f love to Mrs. Jane
H. Blair who is unable to attend
services on account o f sickness.
