NEWBERG GRAPHIC. she should put forth an effort to get one. The canning business is no untried ex periment, but is an assured success. Oregon has a home demand wnich should he supplied by home products. The mining, lumber and fishing indus tries have become great consumers, and make a market for a considerable amount of canned fruit and vegetables. The demand is increasing, so wo want to take advantage of the opportunity and look to our own interests. As yet we have not mnch surplus fruits, perhaps not enough to make a very heavy pack, but that is no objec tion to beginning for the business will grow as fast at we can take cure of it. Newberg is a favorable location to bnlld up a good busluus*. This signi fies that Mr. Hanna is living down four or five years-of tbo most bitter abuse ever heaped upon a man in public life. Mr. Haana once-said lie would wlthdruw from his candidacy (or the Senate if any man of character whom he had ever em ployed would say that he had not kept faith witii him. The January “ National” —the News- Magazine—is chock full of timely and interesting news-pictures. A new and winningly gentle presentment of Sena tor Hanna lias the place of honor on the first page. One of the frontispieces sliows President Roosevelt on horse back, In front of the White House, in a simple riding rig suggestive of the Rough Rider days; the other shows the new President and bis cabinet assembled for business. Miss Helen Hay is presented —a real American beautv and a poet, too—with her fiance, Payne Whitney of New Y o rk ; likenesses of Mrs. Knox and Miss Knox, wifo and daughter of the at torney general, and Miss Cockrell, daughter of the senator from Missouri, adorn other pages. Half a dozen sena tors snap-shotted in characteristic atti tudes— among them Bard of California, Scott of West Virginia, Jones of Nevada and Dolliver of Iowa. One group gives fine portraits of the parents of the late President McKinJoy and of Mrs. M c Kinley. There is a good engraving of the famous picture which Andrew Car negie presented to Mrs. Grover Cleve land—and dozens of others. Warrants unpaid ut time of this report A Mother’s Plain Words •• I suppose you will be astonished when I tell you that six years ago I waa In a most dangerous condition with bronchitis and lung trouble, because you can see how well and strong I am now. The attack at that time caused terrible pain iu my chest andlungs. I could hardly move, and to stoop caused intense suf fering. Someone advised Ack er’s Knglish Remedy, and I thought I would try it, although I confess that down in my heart I had little faith in it. The first bottle gave great relief, and the second bottle made me the healthy woman I am today. My husband's lungs are weak also, and he cured himself with the same grand old remedy. Our boy and girl havo both been saved by it from death by croup. I know this is so, for when they were attacked in tho night I had a bottle in the closet, and by acting quickly that fatal malady was easily overcome. We always give it to the children when they have a cough or e ld , and we would not be without it for anything My s:s:cr will tell you also, if von a-k her. that it is a medicine "that can a ways be depended upon for all the , troublesof theb. catl ing organs. 1 I tell all our neighbors about Acker's English Remedy whenever I get a chance, and there are plenty of peo ple around Mcchanicsvillc, N. Y.. where I live, who would no more think of go ing to bed at night without a bo' tie of it in the house than they would of leaving their doors wide open. As I look at it. parents are criminally responsible when they allow their children to die under their very eyes with croup, because h e i« fa a certain remedy that will conquer the ternble monster every time."
