The Graphic has received from E d mund Robinson at Kirkwood, California, an interesting account of their trip down from .here. It was received too late for this week's publication. As we go to press word .comes that George Hailstone, who is in the employ of the S. P. company, while working on the mountain, fell in such a way as to break one of his ribs. He was waited on by Dr. Littlefield. The farmer has to sell his stock cheap aud it is cheap meat that you want, while it is your money I want. Orie Winslow has decided to return to Carthage, Indiana, where his father offers him a good lay out on a farm. Sorry to see them leave Oregon but • hope they may prosper in their old home again. They will probably leave about Sep. 1. A meeting is called for Friday evening at 8 p. m. in the Hoskins brick building, for the purpose of organizing a McKin ley and Hobart club, and making ar rangements for the present campaign. Ail interested in the election of M cKin ley are cordially invited to attend. When crossing a ravine on the Ilarger farm in We3t Chehalera last Tuesday, Amos Nelson's thrashing engine broke through the culvert, falling about five feet. The drive wheel struck a tree and broke in several pieces which caused a lay off for the crew until a new wheel could lie shipped out from Portland. I f you have ever seen a little child in the agony o f summer complaint, you can realize the danger o f the trouble and appreciate the value o f instantan eous relief always afforded by D eW itt's Colic & Cholera Cure. For dysentery and diarrhoea it is a reliable remedy. W e could not afford to recommend this as a cure unless it were a cure. A . T. Hill. Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Blair started to Scotts Mills last Friday morning, driv ing F. A. Morris’ mare to the buggy, hut they got no farther than the W y- joosk i hill below town. When about two-thirds of the way down the hill, from some unaccountable reason the mare began to kick, and before a halt could lie called the shafts anil dashboard were pretty badly splintered up. Mr. and Mrs. Blair got out without a scratch however which was the main thing to be thankful for. W . N. Button arrived home last Mon day after an absence of two or three weeks. He visited Bpokane, Baker City, Pendleton and several of the mining dis tricts tributary to these points, with a view of choosing a location for merchan dising. Since coming home he re ceived word from Bpokane that a groc- eryman in that city had accepted an offer made by himself and a Portland gentleman for his stock and fixtures and he left for that city on Wednesday morn ing. He says business is lively at Spokane and houses hard to rent, and consequently his family will remain in Newberg for the present. Biilv has made many friends since coming to New berg who are exceedingly aorry to see him leave. Jr. and family over from Bcotts Mills the first of the week.
