(Oregonian Dec. 15,) T h a t the Colombia Southern Railroad will be extended from Shaniko to Re nil and th a t work will be commenced early in next year is assured. The cont'acts be tween President H arrim un and President E. E. Lytle, of the Co lum bia Southern, have been signed and all agreements have been satis factorily entered into. All that now remains is to complete plans for the extension, have the m ateri al for the road shipped to the con struction points, and commence building. Mr. Lytle announces th a t this will he done just as soon ns possible. In talking of the m at ter yesterday Mr. Lytle said: ‘‘All doulit is now removed. The road will bo built. There are no longer any disagreements between Mr llarrim an and myself. The esti mated cost of this $1,500,000. extension Several routes have been survey ed between the two points to be connected by the extension, and the oilicials of the road are having some diiliculty iu deciding upon the exact route to be ehosen. All of them present good possibilities, hut the question before the railroad people, is how to select the best route for the road and for the country th a t will be given railway service. It is expected th at dirt will fly I | on the grade for the extension next spring. Work will then be pushed with all the speed possible until the line is completed into Bend.
