E c h o O ffice D e s tr o y e d b y Fire. Timber Laud Thursday morning, at about half past one, the building together with the entire printing plant of T he E cho was destroyed by fire. When discovered by Richard King,Glenn Marsh and W. H. Staats the build ing was a mass of flames and it was evident that saving anything connected with the plant was im possible, 60 the attention of those present was turned to saving the adjoining property of Mr. King which stood within ten feet of the burning building. Through well directed effort this was accom plished but not without a severe scorching being given Mr. King’s residence. It is impossible to as certain how the fire originated and it becomes a mystery when it is re called that it oceured at such an unusual hour. The loss is a hard one to Mr. H. J. Palmer and a serious blow to the Deschutes Pub lishing Company to whom the property was to have been formally transfered today. The bill of sale for the plant etc., had been exe cuted on July 1st. and held in trust awaiting the completion of other details. The change in ow nership has occured, however, just as it would have had the fire not taken place. Until the necessary arrangements can be made for bringing in a new plant T h e E cho will be issued from the office of the Prineville Review. LO C A L N O T E S , Subscribe fo r T h e E ch o .
