Tbe Coos Bay News last week published a special edition con-1 tainiog much valuable information concerning the county and many interesting writeups of a number of our prominent citizens, with a num ber of illustrations, atistically ar ranged and neatly printed. There will be a special school meeting held at the school house on the 12th inst for. tbe purpose of empowering the school board to purchase school grounds and to is sue interest-bearing bonds to pay for same and improve and construct a school building. Bandon’s celebration was inter fered with by a gentle shower to a slight degree, but was a grand suc cess, nevertheless. The contest be tween the RaDdon and Marshfield fire departments was won by tbe visiting team. The entire program as carried out was heartily enjoyed by the large attendance. J. A. Peart came in yesterday with two boxes of strawberries from bis patch near town. One box contained 18 and the other 10 ber ries and were as full as could be packed. Mr. Peart has put out ten acres this year, which added to his former patch, will certainly pro duce a large quantity of fruit another year. According to the Humboldt Bea con, published - at Foituna, Cali fornia, T. J. Godfrey, well known in this section, recently had quite an accident with his automobile. It appears that the stearing gear broke and the machine went over a grade and 125 feet to the bottom of a gulch. Mr. Godtrey was not seriously hurt. The favorite song service last Sunday night at the M. E. Church South, was a success. The house was full to the door, and everyone seemed to enjoy the music. Thanks are hereby tendered all who helped in the service. Next Sunday our Presiding Elder, Rev. E. B. Jones, will be here and preach for us, it being the 4th Quarterly Conference occasion.
