The following extracts from let ters written by Miss Lucia Sperry while in England, may prove inter esting to readers of the Herald. In our next issue will appear like coin munications from Scotland and Ire land. London, June. This is certainly not keeping to my resolution to write a little each day, but it in absolutely the first opportunity I have had for letter writing since reaching London. Wh it a wonderful time we are having. I fear it may sound like bragging to tell some of it, but it is not meant that way. We reached London Wednesday afternoon and came directly to this beautiful home where we are being entertained. It is one of the fine, old English homes of which oue reads in books. An immense house ot five stories, furnished like a palace, rare old prints and books everywhere, all treasures, and more servants than I have been able to eount. There are four daughters three at home now Each has her, maid and everything else imagin able. It makes me feel quite fine to go out in a beautiful carriage with coachman and footman in livery. The Congress will be a great, historical event. I shall not at tempt to write much about it, as Auntie has written long accounts to be senton. The second evening after we ar rived, Bishop (Lord) Montgomery and bis wife were invited here to dine with us. It was a great privilege to mee) in this manner, fdr he was the originator of the Pan-Anglican Congress idea. I will give yon a list of the social events we have at tended and are yet to attend; see what you think of it: First came a garden party at Falham Palace, given by the Bishop of London; next a reception at Lambeth Palace given by the Arch-Bishop of Canterbury; a reception given by Countess Ellsmere at Bridgewater House, and one given by Sir John and Lady Kenneway. An invitation from Arch-deacon Ely of Trinity college, to visit Cambridge, two or three private invitations of lesser im portance, and last of all and grand, eat, an invitation from the Prince and Princess of Wales to meet the King and Queen This is not until next Thursday. Besides attending most of the ssesions of Congress I spent a morning and evening at the wonder ful Franco-Biitish Exposition that people are coming from all over the world to see. The other great event in London this year is the International Horse Bhow, that and the general sight seeing we will " d o ” later on. Last night our host gave another dinner party, and we had music afterwards. One of the Misses Longman (that is the name o f our host) sings very beautifully.
