Deep sea fish have been quite plentiful the past few days in Marsh field markets. The tug Dauntless arrived in San Francisco, Friday last, with the Nann Smith in tow. The Smith was taken directly to the Untied Engineering Works at Oakland, to have her boilers repaired. R. F . Crittenden, an oil expert, who has a contract with Otto Schet- ter to explore the latter’s holdings on South Slough, reached here this week. He is making arrangements and expects to start boring for oil in tbe very near future. J. J. Curren, who at one time wns superintendent of the Beaver H ill coal mine, but of late engaged in tbe hotel business at Coquille City, M yrtle Point and North Bend, has disposed of bis interests in the county and left, with bis family for Southern California. His health demanded a change of climate. Tw o 75-horse-power engines, a hoisting engine, pumps, an electric light plant, and other machinery was received last week for the little boat being built by Kruse A Banks for the North Bend Brewing Co. The craft is to engage in the coast in g trade and carry the brewery’s product to nearby coast points. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Kronenberg, o f the lower river, returned by the Elizabeth from San Francisco where Mrs. Kronenberg had been visiting for several months, and Mr. K ron en berg had gone on business con nected with the Aberdeen mill, of which he is superintendent.
