Joyce Taylor on Thursday evening, January 27, at 7:30 p. m. to work on the tray cloths that are being made to send to the Masonic Home in Forest Grove. An initiation js being planned or Feb. 4. The Spring Bali was discussed and preliminary'plans made. A motion was made to have secret sisters for the Bethel this term. Mrs. Gould spoke to the girls n regard to their Bethel work. Plans for a Spring Carnival vere made but it was decided to discuss this further at the next neeting. . ■ Mrs. Gould announced that the Grand Guardian would make joint inspection of the Bandon, 'oos Bay and Coquille Bethels on March 28. • • Mrs. Julius Ruble has been ap pointed to the state board of the Oregon Federation of Women’s clubs as youth conservation chair- tnan for District No. 2, it was an nounced at a meeting of the Co quille Woman's club held on Tuesday afternoon in the junior auditorium of the Community building. The appointment was made by Mrs. William B. Chand- lee, state president. A letter was read irom the Co quille public library board, thank ing the club for their assistance in purchasing fluorescent lights for the library. i Acknowledgment was also re ceived of a donation made to the Oregon federation scholarship and loan fund. Mrs. Ida K. Owen reported that thirty-nine Christmas packages had been sent out from the club ; to patients in the Clymer and I Timmons Nursing Homes. Mrs. Annje C. The financial report of the church for the year 1948 included the Sabbath school offering $1,- 262.00; ingathering 1732.92, Dor cas funds 81214.68, tithe $6.646.00. Offerings for missions, famine re lief, mission extension, radio min istry, church building fund brought the total to $17,400.61. Plaits have been made to con tinue both local and overseas w el fare work and to enlarge and re- modei the church this year. • • B.P.W. Conference Planned For March Preliminary plans for the dis trict conference of Southwestern Oregon Business and Professional Women's clubs which will be held in Coquille on March 19 and 20 were discussed at an executive meeting of the Coquille club held on Friday. Attending the confer ence w ill be representatives from the Coos Bay, Coquille, Cottage Grove, Bend, Drain, Eugene, Myr tle Point, Springfield and Yon calla clubs. Miss Inez Rover was named general chairman in charge of conference arrangements. Attending the executive m eet ing were Miss Arlene Robertson, Mrs. Ed Hughes, Dr. Eleanor Gut man, Mrs William Klenz and Mrs. Loren Simmons. • • Schools Close Around County Schools in the district which have been closed because of cold weather are McKinley, Riverton and Kentuck, according to infor mation received from the office of the county school superintendent Bunker Hill was closed for a few hours but opened again almost immediately.
