Rerfeshments were served at the close of the meeting. Members present were Mrs. S. S. Refreshments were served at a late hour, purple heather and Japanese quince blossom being used to decor ate the serving table. Present at the affair were Mr. and Mrs. George Ulett, Mr. and Mrs. A. N. The February meeting of the club w ill be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Walker. • • Special Missionary Services Planned The Coquille Tabernacle of the As semblies of God is devoting the day to a special missionary program Sun day, January 25. Reverend Edward Miller and his wife, both accomplish ed musicians and return missionairies from South America, w ill be in charge of the morning service to commence at 11 a. m. A t 6:30 p. m. Rev. Nel son M iller, a return missionary from India, w ill be showing colored movies of his tours there; his captivating shots of the Himalayan mountains being a special treat to these who w ill see them. This is to be a special youth mis sionary service, and all young people are cordially invited to attend. At 7:30 p. m., Rev. Edward M iller w ill again conduct the service, bringing the South American countries to the congregation with vivid descriptive stories. Reverend Howard S. May, pastor of the Tabernacle, promises that every service w ill be an interest ing one and extends a warm welcome to all who desire to come. • • Weekly Injured In Sunday Accident Orville Weekly was slightly in jured and his truck was badly smash ed When an accident occurred twelve miles this side of Gold Beach on high way 101. Glen Riddle, also involved in the accident, escaped with little damage to his truck. Weekly stopped his truck to assist Riddle who was having car trouble, and the shoulder of the road gave way endangering both tracks. A wrecker was called and as the wreck er was pulling out Weekly’s truck, the cable broke and the truck went over the bank. Weekly himself was in the cab of the truck at the time. • • Hostess A t Thursday Party Mrs. Emerick Hultin was hostess at a Thursday evening party when the guests included Mrs. Merle Kellen- berger, Mrs. Belle Knife, Mrs. Lois Stevens, Mrs. Londy Peart, Mrs. M a r vin Day, Mrs. Marion Clayton, Mrs. Walter Oerding, and Mrs. Jack H ul tin. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Beau dette, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bissett, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hayse, Mrs. Mabel Whereat and Walter Moore. Winners for the evening were Mrs. Joe Hayse and Mrs. Phil Barrette, and Albin Severson and Virgil Beaudette. In the American Legion Auxiliary membership contest, District No. 10, (not Coquille alone as was stated last week), took fourth plaace in the state. District No. 10 takes in Coos, Curry and Douglas counties. Receiving the National President's citation for equalling or exceeding last year’s membership by December 31, were Bandon, Canyonville, M y r tle Point, Coquille, North Bend and Roseburg. As an outcome of the contest, Mrs. Ed Detlefsen, district president, won a wager from the Klamath Falls president; her prize being a sack of choice Klamath Falls potatoes If Mrs. Detlefsen had lo t she would have sent to Klamath Falls a sack of Coos county cranberries. • • 100% WOOL Shirts Plaids and Checks 4.95 x l - .mt r Perfect Fit Cotton Rib Douglas Fish Has Birthday Socks On his sixth birthday anniversary, Douglas Fish was the honored guest when his mother, Mrs. Dan Fish, en tertained at a children’s party on Thursday. Ice cream, pink lemonade and birthday cake were served to the young guests who were Gall Schroe der, Joanne Barrow, Patsie W ilt shire, Ronnie and Rickie Gould and , Bonnie Elliott. The children's mothers, who were also present were Mrs. Elbert Schroe der, Mrs. Wm, Barrow, Mrs. Lewis Wiltshire, Mrs. L. B. Gould and Mrs. A. D. B lio tt. . • • Mrs, Preussler Entertains Mrs. A. W. Preussler entertained on Friday afternoon at a Stanley party. Present at the affair were Mrs. Del bert James, Mrs. Arthur Morrison, Mrs. A. R. Preussler. Mrs. Bill Stew ard, Mrs. J. E. McCrory and Mrs. Harold McCue. • • Rickife Gould Has Birthday Mrs. L. B. Gould entertained at a delightful children’s party for her son, Rickie’s third birthday anni versary. Games were played during the af ternoon after which birthday cake and ice cream were served. Each little guest received a miniature train as a favor. Assistant Scout Master Leroy Swinney and George Eckholm. Plans are under way for a basket ball game between the boys of troop I 14 and a Coos Bay troop.
