Mr. and Mrs. George Laird and
their daughter, Mrs. Jean Bryan, left
Wednesday for Portland. They are
meeting their son, Ensign Jack Laird,
and his wife, the former Gretchen
Clinton, who are arriving from Pen­
sacola, Florida. The young couple
were married last March, just after
Jack received his commission. He en­
listed in the Navy Air Corps two
years ago. He was given advanced
work recently and is now instructing
instructors, men of higher rank than
himself.

Geo. S. Davis left Monday morning
to spend New Year’s with a niece and i
other old friends in Humboldt county,
Calif. 1

Mrs. Stanley Bartlett, of Sacra­
mento,’Calif., was a week-end visitor
at the J. S. Barton home. She stated
Stanley is in fair health and is on
the police force in Sacramento
Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Marlneau, of
Bandon, spent Christmas eve with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford
Kern. They left the same evening,
for Portland, on a delayed honeymoon
and visit with Fred's mother. Yvonne
was a bridesmaid Sunday evening
at five o'clock at the wedding of Miss
Nadine Koehler', who had been maid
of honor of Yvonne’s wedding earlier
this month. They will return Jan­
uary 6.
Mrs. Joe Nilsen, formerly of Riv­
erton but now living at Langlois,
writes that her son, .Major H. E.
Johnson, and Mrs. Johnson, visited at
the Nilsen home last week. Major
Johnson has been head dentist at
Prairie Field, Everett, Wash., but has
been transferred to Muroc, Calif.,
where he will be in charge of the den­
tal department.

Miss Lynn Roberta, of Cottage
Grove, has been a guest ot Mrs. R. L.

over Sunday and will leave for home
this coming Sunday.
Jerry Extra, who called upon the
trade for Zellerbach Paper Co. of
Portland for many years, but for the
past three yean has been with the
Evans Product» Co. in Portland, was
a Coquille visitor yesterday.
