Washing Machines >15.00 and up Pictures Shown At , Pioneer Church pictures presented Tuesday evening at Pioneer church under the auspices of the young people of the Epworth League, were well attended and enjoyed. Mr. Zhedric donated his machine and time for the interest of the League group. The pictures show the interest taken in the beauty of nature and reveal a wide range of subjects, having been gathered from extensive travels, especially in our great Northwest country. At a later date these will be shown again in short periods with a few rolls at a showing. When shown again the regular screen will be used which brings out better coloring. General interest in the pictures has been found on the part of all who were present on Tuesday evening. The League thanks all who made this possible. To rush last minute preparations for their annual Christmas Bazaar, members of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of Pioneer Metho dist church worked deftly Thursday afternoon at their regular business meeting on dainty handwork to be offered for Christmas gift buyers at the bazaar. Rev. Charles G. Brown was present at the meeting to lead the devotions. Mr. Brown chose hi, text from the Book of Ruth. At the meeting, it was announced that the bazaar would be held Sat urday, November 15, at the U. E. McClary Appliance store. Refreshments were served by a committee composed of Mrs. William Ireland, Mrs. W. P. Laws, Mrs. F. G. Leslie, Mrs. L. A. Lundquist and Mrs. Floyd Peterson to the Mesdames R. November 1 the young people of the Assembly of God church were en tertained at the Anton Schroeder home in honor of Wayne’s eightheen birthday.- The guests arrived attired in Hollowe’en costume. Randolf Johnson, Sr., Mama Johnson and Mr. Peewee were represented among the guests. After much merriment and some Hallowe’en games, Wayne open ed his birthday gifts, after which cookies, cider and two decorated birthday cakes were served to the following guests: Harriet and Ernie Wallace, Lena Martin, Wallace How ard, Ray and Cart Jewel, Walter Exely, Naomi, Virginia and Winni- fred Van Fleet, Waneta Wardrip, Pat Thomas, Ruby Marney, Melvin and Margaret Steward, Gordon How ard, Jean and Mary Lou Newton and their three visiting cousins and the guest of honor, Wayne Schroeder. --------- ! Heaters >2.00 to >10.00 A quilt for the Children's Farm at Corvallis kept members of the Helping Hand Division of the Church of Christ Missionary society busy Thursday afternoon, when they were entertained by Mrs. W. H.' Wimer. While the members worked on the quilt, Mrs. Lulu Woodward, who pre sided during the absence of the pres- ident, conducted a business meeting. The women of the Baptist Church met yesterday in the fellowship room of the church for a missionary pro gram. The meeting was opened by singing and the devotionals were led by Mrs. E. C. Swanson, who read selections from the Bible and with the theme, “Giving Thanks.’’ After a short business meeting, the following program was conducted by Mrs. Ralph Keunzli: “Pilgrims’ First Thanksgiving, Georgia Davidson; “Geo. Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation,” Mrs. Parrish; Abra- ham Lincoln's Thanksgiving Pro clamation,” Mrs. T.R. Rutledge; “The Most Beautiful Thanksgiving Pro clamation,” Mrs. John Stone; Psalm 100 and Thanksgiving Prayer, read by Mrs. Keunzli. Mrs. Short, retired missionary and wife of the Nazarene minister of Coquille, was then intro duced. Mrs. Short gave a very in teresting talk on her former work as a medical missionary in South Africa. Delicious refreshments were served by Mrs. Elmer Holverstolt to the 23 ladies present.
