Every mile brings the coach and ita 1 odd assortment of pasengers closer to ’ a waiting band of murderous ' Apaches, led by Geronimo, fiercest of them all. . . . This is the tense and thrilling back ground of Walter Wanger's “Stage coach,” a frontier drama of the 1880’s when Indians still roamed the sage brush, which opens at the Roxy Theatre tonight (Thursday) for three ’ days, with Claire Trevor and John Wayne in the starring roles. Miss Trevor, appearing as Dallas, a girl of shady reputation who has been driven from Tonto by a self-righteous group ' of women, and Wayne, impersonating 1 Kid Ringo, anpther social outcast, are 1 passengers on this coach. Among the others in the motley group are a gambler of mysterious origins, a sot- tishdoctor, a timid whiskey drummer, a high-born lady about to have a baby, a pompous banker who has ab sconded with his bank’s funds, the stagecoach drivers. Combination Orchestra Pleases Another dance, similar to the one in the Community Building which was quite well attended laat Saturday night, la advertised there for this com ing Saturday, June 24. ' The eight piece combined orchestras of Don Estes and Spenny Ross made quite a hit and was warmly acclaimed by those who heard them last week. . —_ the granite-hard surface of the turn« and the back wretch put tire safety to the teat supreme! Record after reeord was shattered. Speeds reached as high as 160 miles an hour on the \ straightaways, as 33 of r the fastest drivers in the k world waged a breath- [ taking battle for gold and ► glory- N -V zs.. There was a capacity crowd for their farewell service. Rev. R. D. E. Smith, pastor of the Taber-*’ nacle, reports a very successful meet- ing. He said that the church, which seats 450, was comfortably full every night of the meeting and packed out on many occasions. More than fifty people made profession of Christian ity during the two weeks that the Fox party was here. Rev. Mr. Smith spoke especially of the spirit of co operation between the Coquille churches in the recent revival meet ings and said that he felt that a good deal of the success in these meetings and other union church activities was due to this spirit of brotherhood. The sermon topic at the Tabernacle next Sunday night is to carry out the thought of proper fellowship between the churches« Mr. Smith is to preach on “Where shall we draw the denom- inational line?” Sunday morning the sermon topic will be: “The Pathway of Victory," a sermon on Christian victory, what it is. how it is attained and how kept. Other church services during the week are: Tuesday night, prayer meeting and testimony service. Friday evening Bible studies in the Revelation. A good number will be baptised in water at the conclusion of next Sun day night's service. Never before in all the history of the motor car have tires been put to such a torturous test.
