Tuesday for Mrs. A. H. Oderkirk, who passed away at her home In North Bend quite suddenly last Satur day. She was the mother of Mrs. Jos. Baser, Mr*. W. H. Fortier and I. V. Oderkirk, of thia city. Heart trouble waa the cause of her demise. She had apparently been in good health a short time before her parsing, and died while sitting in her chair. Mr*. Oder kirk had attended a family reunion juot three days previous and had been so happy in having four of her six children and their families ail togeth- Study of the unnatural history of southwestern Oregon has revealed that the five-weed and lupine are not indigenous to the Oregon coast re gion but aré of exotic origin. These two flowering plants, which grew in profusion at Smiling River farm, were introducted by Paul Bunyan at the request of Hot Biscuit Slim. This was coincident to the building of the whale corral at Coo* Bay, history re lates, when Paul’s loggers were on the point of open rebellion because there was no honey for their hot bis cuit*. E. church, of which »he wa* a member, conducted the service*. Interment wa* in the Coquille Masonic cemetery. Mrs. Oderkirk was born Annie Har riett Hawley, Sept. 20, 1M0, in Shef field county, Ontario, and wa* married to Mr. Oderkirk in the asm* province, Jun* 7». 1888. He homesteaded in North Dakota in 1807, and sb* soon oined him there. After living In other state* they came to Coquille in 1924 and three year* ago moved to North Bend where Mr. Oderkirk and hi* son, »ay, operate a eervice station and store. She waa a «ronderful wife and moth er and beloved by everyone who knew her for her sweet, happy personality. ¡Beside her husband and the four children mentioned ah* ia survived by a eon and a daughter, William Melvin Oderkirk, of Roseburg, and Mrs. Cora Whidden, who reaide* in Alberta, Can ada. She aiao leaves two brothers, George and John Hawley, who live in Canada.
