The year 1928 promise» to' be of
unOsual interest to the women of the
Methodist Church South as it marks
the fiftieth anniversary of the Wo­
man’s Missionary Society,1 which was
organised, in Atlanta, Georgia, May,
1878.
It will be known as Jubilee
Year and many jubilee programs will
be celebrated during the year.
The
principles of the, Jubilee are to be
constructive, church-wide,
inter-ra­
cial, and international.
The goals, of the Jubilee are as fol­
lows:
1. A higher
spiritual
standard,
through efforts to establish more firm­
ly the principles of Christian living
in our contacts with our fellow men.
2. An appreciation of our inheri­
tance, which provides facilities for ex­
pressing our joy because of the won­
derful inheritance that has come to
the womanhood of the Church.
8. The extension of the organiza-
*tion, until every unenlisted woman
shall become enlisted, enlightened,
and interested in the evangelization
of the world.
4t The re-evaluation of our task, in
order to find through the leadenship
of God’s spirit His plan for us in the
future.
5. A thank offering, by which
means the women of the church will
be given opportunity to express their
love apd gratitude for the achieve­
ments of the pioneers and for the
spiritual values they have received
through study of their deed. This of­
fering is to be used in developing
the work now faced.

fully arranged and decorated with
green and candles provided places for
the guests: Mesdames 0. C. Sanford,
C. J. Fuhrman, Paul Van Scoy, H. A.
Young, F. L. Grenough, J. A. Lamb,
A. J. Sherwood, M. 0. Hawkins, Nels
Osmundson, and J. L. Smith. Sewing
was the diversion of the afternoon.

Tuesday afternoon the CoquillevWo-
man’s club met at the home of Mrs.
J. E. Paulson on South Coulter street.
A delightful musical program was
enjoyed. The Jenny Lind Sextette,
with Mrs. M. O. Hawkins accompany­
ing at the piano, sang two pleasing
selections.
Mrs. E. A. Woodyard,
who has recently moved to Coquille,
also sang most delightfull
group
of wellnelec-ted songs. Mrs. Hawkins
accompanied her.
Mrs. C. V. Smith, president, pre­
sided during the business. meeting.
Various reports were made.
The
Ways and Means committee asked the
club as to its opinion in regard to-
postponing the carnival until March
