tion was opened Wednesday after­
noon by Moderator Julian C. Whitaett
of Gold Beach, at two o’clock in the

During the past weak we have had
the pleasure of admiring a largo bull
elk while grasing with the cows in
our hill pasture, where ho chanced to
taka up his abode. A number o f the
neighbors have sean him while pass­
ing and say ho a a beauty. The cows
wars vary much frightened by his
kingly attitude apon bis first appear­
ance and ran madly in ovary direc­
tion. But the bull stood pat and
challenged him fo r a royal battle.
The old settlor* here state this elk
