Earnest support of church- oh and church organisation tor the American plan for world-wide sup pression of the "drug evil” before |ho International Opium conference in Genevu in November is sought by the Federal Council of Churches. The council calls upon Christian America to support, by thousands of resolutions, the famous "American policy" calling for total extirpation of opium plants except to mont medl- cal and sclenkific needs, The petl- lions will be presented to the world conference by Bishop Charles H. Brent one of the three American del egates appointed by Preeident Cool idge. Congress has appropriated funds for the expenses of the dele gation. The American delegates, the fed eral council says, will make a strenu ous fight for control of the traffic In hablt-forniing drugs, but leaders In th« fight believe that Is essential for ths world to know that they are barked by th» American people. The International Opium confer ence was summoned by the league o( Nations, chiefly through the ef forts of Stephen G. Of course I Lee did not know he was carrying visible evidence of a kiss bestowed , upon him, and, when his wife point- j od out the telltale mark and merely I laughed, he was relieved. Ilia wife's attitude was not duel to the fact that she did not care i what her husband did. The reason : for fier peace of mind was the fact that she believed that Lee resem bled her; that he also had grown old with the passing of the years, aud was likewise immune to the call | of spring, to the spirit of romance. I But Lee, faithful aud loyal to his i wife, was not immune, and the kiss i was not merely the result of a "lit tle escapade," as his wife innocent-1 ly imagined. For a strange love had j come into bls life, a love so power- ; ful that he could not witlistimd it. i And a little china doll bad been the I cause of it all!
