The Oregon highway commission states that "there is no use of Ore gon building its end of the line un til California at least makes a start." This refers to the Redwood highway between this place and Grants Pass. The Oregon commission probably does not realise that for many months highway construction has been going on between this place and Grants Pass, in Del Norte county, to connect with the Oregon highway. The work is through the forest re serve, from Gasquet to the state line, and quite a stretch has already been completed. From Gasquet to Cres cent City it la about 17 miles over comparatively level ground and the state is now planning to close the gap, one route with estimates now on file. Another routs down Smith river, from opposite Mill creek to the Crescent City-Smith Biver bridge has been proposed and the matter will soon be decided. "You know that it is the desire and policy «f The American Tobacco Co. to extend to its customers the maximum of service. Reducing the price of a great favorite like Tuxedo—the moment it’s possible—is our idea of delivering this service. Two things have made this reduction possible: 1. A reduction in the cost of Kentucky Burley tobacco and in package materials. 2. Tho consolidation of three of our big plants into one. (Mr. Ford may not be in the tobacco business but he is right about consolidation.) There is a long gap in the Roose velt highway in Curry county. Cali fornia's portion from Crescent City to Winchuck is over a level stretch, requiring only a few months to com So that favorite pocket tin of fresh Tuxedo tobacco which has cost plete it. you fifteen cents or more for the last five years, is yours for just twelve To the south of Crescent City the (12) cents from now on! Every package is— gap between Wilson creek and Klam ath river, seven miles, is rapidly be ing closed. On the south of the Klamath work has been started to connect with the highway in Hum boldt count). In the spring the con struction of the Klamath bridge will begin.
