LENINE - TROTZKY
Th Bolshevlki. It is a familiar
name, hut of recent origin In this
country. The whole nation has been
Interested in and pusiled by it. It
Is divided Into two parts, Trotxky
and Lenine, both new characters In
world affairs and of obscure and
gyrating origin. Americans have
been patient with their eccentric ac
tions and have borne with them
through trying times, even . when
their motives were attacked and
they were accused of being instru
ments in the hands of Germany, to
betray Russia. Possessed of assur
ance far beyond the power of human
kind to grasp, they have claimed
high Ideals and purity of purpose.
Such is always the rase with an as
sassin, and like the vlllsn In the
play, when the time waa ripe the
point of their dagger found the
heart of Russia.
In plain words, Trotxky and Len
ine are nothing more or less than
anarchists, entrusted with a little
temporary power which such
creatures always abuse to the utmost
limit In this case they have been
supported by the peace loving, sim
ple minded peasantry of the nation,
who have been used as a pawn and
betrayed at the first opportunity..
Under the Bolshevlki government
Russia has descended from a mighty
nation of the earth to a helpless
hulk, groping and simpering at the
feet of the world's greatest tyrant,
while his armies are hurled Into a
helpless nation, murdering non
combatants and plundering the coun
try, thanks to this pair of advent
urers, Trotzky and Lenine.
If Russia had fallen down and was
compelled to withdraw from th war,
what will she do now, with her ar
mies disbanded, her leaders in hid'
ing, and no one to defend her? Does
she look for sympathy from the iron
heel of the kaiser? Does the lamb
look for sympathy from th lion?
If she could not pay for war ex
penses for herself, how will she pay
the indemnity and provinces to the
enemy? Such Is the lot of a nation
. of serfs. They are not fit to govern
themselves, and for the rest of the
war they are liable to be governed
by their master. "When the war Is
over, iwhat of Russia? She has de
liberately forfeited every claim of
protection by the entente, so where
can she look for aid?

Th treasury of the United States
baa a great deal of money to raise
and it can not be raised by bankers

SEND CHEERFUL LETTERS
Certain types of letters ought
never to be sent tu the men at the
frdnt. One is that written by the
selfish or thoughtless woman whose
closely written panes are blurred
with her tears, and taken up with
her own sorrow In having her soldier
so far from home, and her plea for
him to come back at once, 'sine
everything Is going wrong without
him. One of the Young Men's Chris
tian association secretaries In France
tells of a promising young chap who
came back from leave with every ap
pearance of having been drinking
heavily.
"Yon see," the young soldier told
the Young Men's Christian associa
tion man, " I got word from moth
er and she was so worried about my
going wrong over bere, and so sure
that I had Inherited alcoholic ten
dencies from my father, that I got
desperately blue, and went on a
spree to forget all about It."
