Fore, who has been on a recruiting trip to Medford and other points In the valley, passed through here this morning on his return to Medford. Brown, sis ter of Jss. Wesley Brown, who was married to Mildred Churchill of Grants Pass. The Dutch officer met his bride-to-be while la Ix Angeles to purchase aeroplanes for his gov ernment, and the romance followed His wife will now soon be presented at the court of Queen Wtlhelmina of Holland and will enter Into the social lire of the nobility. Team Runs Away A team belonging to a wood hauler caused considerable excitement this afternoon, when starting in the al ley in the rear of the Mocha restau rant it went at top speed up Sixth street. Two lamp posts, one at the rjllroad crossing aad the other in front of the Kinney and Truax store were knocked down and broken. When they knocked the second post down, one horse was so badly hart that they were unable to go further. The name of the owner of the team was not learned. Helllere, of Portland, has a crew of men getting out ore whfoh they will begin ship ping to Tacoraa aa soon as the roads will permit. The Britten copper mine on Pat rick's creek is also In operation and some rich ore Is being taken out There are 800 feet of tunnel and (0 feet of shafting on the property. They are now running a 500 foot tun nel to cut the ledge 200 feet below the shaft, expecting to strike the ledge in 21 feet. Tbla copper pro perty is assured considerable atten tion during the coming summer. Mrs. McPherson has opened up a stopping place at the Graham house at Monumental whioh will be a great accomodation to tourists, Mr. Mc Pherson is In charge of the Monu mental mining property. Work on Guy Gravlln'a chrome property will be resumed as aoon as the snow goes away. Bodies of chrome have been opened up on many parts of the property and there Is all indication of an unlimited deposit. It runs, 58.16 per cent chrome, 4 per cent silica and 6 per cent platinum. O. B. Lauff and West Duley, of Crescent City, also own some valu able copper property In this district and it is believed they will soon be gin operations. Judging from the many snow shoe and ski trocks one sees In this vicin ity, the snow Isn't keeping anyone in. J. X. Britten snowshoed to Waldo last week. Dill Miller, brother of Mrs. Hel llere, Is assisting in getting the mall over the mountains during the snow storm. Wagons are almost through now and the stage will be making regular trips In s few days. Though the mines above mentioned are In Del Norte county, alt ores will be shipped through Grants Pass, therefore giving teams or trucks of that community employment. Pro visions for the mines are also ship ped In here from Grants Pass. LELAND Born, to Mr. and Mr. Jay Reed, a daughter on March 10. A party was given In honor of Geo. Jantter and bride at the .Columbia mine last Saturday evening. A very pleasant time was enjoyed. Dr. Williams was called to see Guy Guff's child, who has 'iieen quite sick. Mr. Amy Klutu made a bualnea trip to Grants Paaa last Monday. A. C. Kpperly left for Granta Pass Sunday evening, intending to return In hla car which has been stored la town for th winter. Dr. Knott, of Glendale, waa called last Monday to see Wm. Light, who has a severe attack of eryalpelas. This disease seems to be quit popu lar on Grave creek, there being five oases this winter. Mrs. Allen Reed Is also ill with it. Miaa Jean Williams, who had to give up her high echool duties In Granta Pass on account of Illness. Is improving. Will McMtchael haa leased the Kltim mine and ia very busy running a giant and a good clean up is expected. Since th mud ia drying up and the spring road work will soon com mence. It la to be hoped for the min ing Interests and the heavy teaming that has to be don to the mine, that a little more money will be spent on graveling some of the deep mud holea between Iceland and Placer. A little more graveled road and not so much dragging would be appreciated aa there Is complaint that some of the worst places are al most Ispassable. REPORT THAT CZAR IS DEPRIVED OF I4UERTV London.
