the council last night, named Miss
Tuffs and Mrs. Klocker as members

because of a multiplicity of other du
ties that took his time. The council
accepted Mr. VanDyke's resignation
and confirmed the mayor's appoint

Asks Extension of Time-
Manager Sanders of The Rogue
River Public Service corporation has
asked the city council for an exten
sion of time for the completion of
its agreement with the city whereby
the franchise for an electric light and
power line within the city was grant
ed. Mr. Sanders wrote the council
that the sugar factory proposition had
taken so much of the energy and re
sources of his company during the
past six months that the other pro
jects bad necessarily been slighted
and further time would be required
in meeting the conditions. A com
mittee from the council will handle
the matter.

Attend Tax ague Meeting

Robinson will go to Portland tonight
to represent this county at a con
ference called through the Oregon
Tax Reform league to study a num
ber ot problems concerning taxation
matters. These gentlemen are espe
cially charged with attention to the

Evangelist Frank Mathls, who Is
commencing a series ot meetings at
Ashland this week was a visitor In
Grants Pass today and wss the guest
while here ot Rev. M. T. Wire ot
the Methodist church and of A. D.
Cornell, who were his escort upon an
auto ride around the city. Mr.
Mathls contemplates coming to this
city later for a series of meetings.
