IlilM)oro Independent. D, w. EATfl. Editor aid ProprietoL APRIL 17, 1908. Sherwood. Rt gtiMf CorreeponiteDt Chas. Barrett has entered into " partnership writ'S tert"i"iciil'WJ lumber manufacturing business near Middleton. A new thirty- horse power engine has recently been installed and the output daily is expected to reach 15,000 feet. The mill will commence sawing again Monday. John Bailey, of Hiilsboro, anoth er candidate for county clerk, was in town Friday interviewing voters relative to his candidacy. Voters, as well as other people, are very busy iust at this season of tne year, consequently a candidate has a difficult task 011 a mission of this nature. That the people of this precinct, as well as others located in the out laying districts, have been hereto fore grossly discriminated against by (some) county officials, at various tunes, is simply beyond contradic tion. Under the conditions "square deaN" means more than diversion or pre election buncombe and the voter will do the discriminating act at the polls, irrespective ot party or politics. The landed property ot the Col ton Mill Co.. at Middleton, has been resurveyed and the timber thereon scaled preparatory of transfer, together with the mill, to Cjtit. Patterson, of Portland, who will immediately place the plant in commission again to its fullest cap acity. The new .skating rink is of mas sive proportions, being 100x57 k floor space somewhat larger than first reported and is now nearing completion. The enterprise Is one of .special importance to skaters and dancers and will no doubt prove a financial success to the fortunate owners, in the outcome. Pardon for unintentional mistake in reporting the strength of the socialist party in this precinct. There are five registered voters of that political party, instead of thiee as stated, however, as to numbers the result would be immaterial either way, being a corporal's guard at the best, after all of them are rounded up. We note that our feminine friend, "Aunt Sally," of Beaverton. is "sit ting up and looking around again" alter a long and painful silence (re portorially). That's right sister, there appears to be a hiatus in that locality none other can so success fully fill, so now there, "be good" again. Let the "kids" wrestle with the pots and kettles and get on your "fighting clothes" once more; your town is too big a burg to be neglected. The Washington Cream Cora pany, of Portland, have established an agency licre in charge of J. C. Keller, ot Newlerg, who will be in town Tuesday and Friday of each week to attend to the business. Cream will be weighed here and seiuciueiHs maue by the agent wetkly. They will also purchase all the fresh eggs obtainable from the farmers that may be offered. 1 he match game of baseball as announced for the nth, inst., be tween the White Sox of Sherwood ami the Spantons, of Portland, was played here Sunday afternoon in the new ball ground park east of town. The contest was said to be tame and spiritless; however, the Sherwood boys scored an initial the three days prior to or on the opening day. WM. McMURRAY, General Passenger Agent. For Sale.
